Another Delicious Green Smoothie

I’ve been whipping up smoothies all week since I last posted, experimenting with all kinds of greens and fruits, mixing and concocting and blending and drinking. I basically throw in whatever fresh greens or fruit I have around. A banana or apple is great to add just enough sweetness to cut the bitter “green” taste, but after a while you might not mind it. (Frozen bananas are great for smoothies. Just peel first and store in a plastic baggie or glass container in the freezer. You can use them instead of ice cubes, but they add thickness and sweetness to your smoothie.)
It’s really worth it to use only organic greens in your smoothies. But remember even organic greens should be rinsed well.
So… all week I’ve been making a big blenderful in the morning keeping it in the fridge and drinking it throughout the day, and I’m totally loving it. Amazingly I don’t crave coffee or even feel groggy at all during the day. I even take some with me in a stainless bottle when I go out, and it keeps well.
I just thought I would share another green smoothie recipe with you:
1 cucumber
2 apple
1 big handful of parsley
1 piece of ginger peeled
1/2 lemon (with the skin!..if you have a Vitamix)
1/2 lime
8 or 9 celery ribs
1 cup romaine lettuce
1 cup spinach
handful of ice
Add water to make it your desired consistency, and blend.
Let me know what you think…and if you have any favorite recipes of your own, please share!
